Heroic Chiefs Fan Who Tackled Gunman At Super Bowl Parade Has Been Identified, Opens Up About His Moment Of Bravery (VIDEO)

The Chiefs fan seen chasing a shooter down and tackling him to the ground has been identified.
Wednesday’s Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City ended on a very sour note as gunmen opened fire into a crowd, killing one person and leaving more than 20 injured.
Meanwhile, Paul Contreras is being hailed for his bravery after knocking over one of the gunmen and subduing him until police could react.
“One guy was just hollering: ‘Catch him, tackle him’, whatever,” Contreras said in an interview told Omaha’s ABC affiliate, KETV after the incident.
“I didn’t think about it. It’s just a reaction. I didn’t hesitate, I just did it.”
“He got close to me, I got the right angle on him, and I hit him from behind. And when I hit him from behind, I either jarred the gun out of his hand or out of his sleeve because as I’m taking him down to the ground, I saw the gun on the ground,” he also told CNN.
Contreras recalled he and another fan putting their weight on top of the assailant, who was fighting the whole time.
“We were fighting each other. He wants to get up while I’m holding him down. Then another guy helps me and then you know, it just seemed like a long time but it’s probably like 15 or 30 seconds,” he explained.
“He’s just fighting to get up,” he said. “But we’re fighting to keep him down. We didn’t want to let him up and take off running because he had one gun. Maybe he another in that big bulky jacket.”
Paul admitted that he did not actually see the suspect brandish the weapon and didn’t know he had one until he heard someone yelling out to tackle him. He risked life and limb in doing so but likely prevented more people from getting hurt or worse.
Contreras also noted that the incident left him in a state of shock and that he and his three daughters just sat at the scene before they went home.
