Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes didn’t run the fastest 40-yard dash time (4.8s) at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine and the memory still haunts him. That’s how you know he’s one of the NFL’s elite competitors.
Sure, he’s got three Super Bowl rings to his name and several of his most memorable plays leading up to those titles were moments when he used his legs to run away from his opponents. That hasn’t stopped the producers at NFL Network from reminding him of his slow 40-yard dash time. Well, Mahomes is officially tired of it.
With workouts at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine set to kick off on Thursday, Mahomes took to X (formerly Twitter) to make a simple request of the NFL.
It’s bad enough that during Georgia (now Eagles) DT Jordan Davis’ 4.78s 40-yard dash Mahomes was brought up. But being left in the dust by his fellow quarterbacks in an NFL Network overlay back in 2022 was simply too much for the ultra-competitive Mahomes.
