Mahomes already finds himself breaking into “GOAT” conversations with two Super Bowls, two Super Bowl MVPs, and two regular season MVPs. Purdy is only in his first full season as a starter after being selected with the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

With those resumes, it shouldn’t surprise you that Mahomes’ contract is astronomically bigger than Purdy’s, but how much more money does Kansas City’s starting quarterback make compared to San Francisco’s? The Sporting News takes a closer look below.
Patrick Mahomes vs. Brock Purdy salary breakdown
Mahomes made $33.4 million during the 2023 NFL season, while Purdy made $950,173, according to Spotrac.
That means Mahomes made roughly $29.7 million more than Purdy this season.
Mahomes was the second-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL this year, while Purdy ranked tied for 75th.
Patrick Mahomes contract details
In 2020, Mahomes signed a 10-year, $450 million contract to become the highest-paid player in NFL history.
Throughout his 10-year deal, Mahomes will make an average annual value of $45 million. That’s good for eighth-most in the NFL behind Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray, and Deshaun Watson.

Brock Purdy contract details
As a second-year player, Purdy is still on his rookie contract. Since the value of rookie contracts is dependent on your draft position, the 49ers’ star had a fixed rate after being selected with the very last pick (262nd overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft.
As a result, Purdy signed a four-year, $3.74 million deal with San Francisco after the draft.
Purdy wasn’t expected to be the 49ers’ next franchise quarterback, so there wasn’t any big or flashy signing bonus when he was taken as Mr. Irrelevant.
He will continue to make some extra cash based on incentives, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones. He made an additional $162,000 for reaching the NFC championship game last year and around another $174,000 for returning to that stage this year. When he led the 49ers to the Super Bowl, he triggered another $89,000 incentive and will add $164,000 if San Francisco wins the whole thing.
Those incentive bonuses are nice, but Purdy’s contract value is still nothing compared to his level of production.
