Travis Kelce answer casts doubt on whether Taylor Swift will make it to Super Bowl 2024

Talk about a potential Super Bowl plot twist.

Travis Kelce seemingly left girlfriend Taylor Swift’s Super Bowl 2024 status up in the air on Wednesday when taking questions from the media ahead of Sunday’s big game against the 49ers at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

When asked if Swift — who is performing in Tokyo, Japan this week as part of the international leg of her Eras Tour — had given Kelce a Super Bowl “pep talk,” the Chiefs tight end offered a curious response.

“She’s just working on entertaining them, making sure she’s ready for her performances and everything, but the Super Bowl, we’ll worry about if she can make it,” Kelce said, according to TMZ.

“If,” not when, being the surprising phrasing.

Swift’s Super Bowl plans have been heavily discussed ever since the Chiefs defeated the Ravens in last month’s AFC Championship game.

The pop superstar, who has been dating the All-Pro tight end since the summer, will finish her final Eras Tour show of the week on Saturday in Tokyo, which is 17 hours ahead of Las Vegas.

It’s been reported she’ll take off from Japan following the concert and land in Nevada hours before kickoff.

Swift has attended 12 Chiefs games this season, including all three of the team’s playoff wins.

Kelce first expressed interest in Swift over the summer when he detailed on his “New Heights” podcast how he wasn’t able to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it during her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City.

As Swift later revealed in a Time cover story celebrating her 2023 Person of the Year honor, the two started hanging out shortly after.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she said.

“We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”

Kelce was asked about the friendship bracelet saga on Wednesday and said: “Never thought it would have landed. I didn’t even think it would have landed or I would have gotten a response from her.”

Super Bowl 2024 gets underway at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Donna Kelce is headed to the Super Bowl to support her son, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, for the second straight year.

The suite prices already have been a big topic heading into Super Bowl LVIII, especially after San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey’s family wasn’t sure if they could afford a suite either.

“You can understand that the boxes in Vegas are multimillion dollars, so I have a feeling I’m not in a box,” Kelce said on Wednesday’s Today show.

“I have a feeling I am in the stands. As far as I know, I’m in the stands with everybody else because it is a pricey Super Bowl.”

It’s very possible Kelce could be seated in a box come Sunday as her son’s girlfriend, international pop star Taylor Swift, could purchase a suite for the Kelce family. Nothing is confirmed on that, though.
