The former Texas Tech football player began dating his wife back in 2012 when the two attended Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas. They announced their engagement on Brittany Mahomes’ 25th birthday after Patrick proposed to her in a VIP box at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, a day after the team received their Super Bowl 54 rings.

“We kinda met in seventh, eighth grade,” Patrick Mahomes said on the Netflix series “Quarterback.” “She was the grade above me, I was kind of the best friend, in the friend zone forever. I used to walk her to class and was trying to flirt. When I was a sophomore in high school, she was a junior. I actually got her a rose, I kind of had a crush on her. But, I was getting a rose as a joke for Valentine’s Day.”
